These women not only benefit themsevles, but they are working for the betterment of their community. It's heartening to learn that collectives are still in operation and working so well. This story relates to another one I was told about recently in which it was found that when women in developing countries were loaned money, they used it to improve their family's health or welfare; when men received similar loans, the money was squandered away.
